Rangers Have Fun, Learn More, Give Back, Hang Out – And Just Be Themselves.
Rangers is your space – where you get together with other girls from 14 to 18 to have fun, learn more, give back, hang out, and just be you. It’s regular meetings with your local group, trips at home and abroad, making a difference to the things you care about. It’s an open and relaxed space to talk with good friends – it’s qualifications and badges and awards. It’s the freedom to be more independent, and to do what makes you happy. Rangers is what you make of it! This could be your last or your first section as a younger member. Rangers is a safe and welcoming space for everyone!
What do girls do in Rangers?
Rangers follow our programme. In unit meetings, you’ll do fun activities, play games and earn skills builder badges, all while being supported by our trained volunteers.
You could get skills builder badges in themes such as camping, communication and first aid. And if you want to take guiding home, there’s lots of interest badges to do in between unit meetings, like the protesting badge, animation badge and travel badge. Rangers is a space to discover you and prepare you for all the adventures adulthood brings!

Badges can be attached to your uniform – the promise badge, which you’ll get after making your Ranger promise, should be worn on the left hand side, or can be worn on a badge tab, and every other badge can be attached where you choose.

After Rangers, you’ll become an adult member and part of our community of women having adventures, gaining skills and making memories to last a lifetime. Find out more about what 18-30-year-olds can do in Girlguiding.
As an adult member, you can now register to become a volunteer and give back to the guiding community.
How much does Rangers cost?
At Girlguiding we do our best to ensure our units are accessible to all girls.
Each young member will be asked to pay a subscription fee to their unit. The amount and frequency will vary, so some units will ask for subscriptions termly, others may have the option to pay weekly. Unit Leaders are always happy to find ways to help who ever looks after you with this!
These fees are used to provide the girls with the fun and adventurous activities offered by Girlguiding.
Sometimes there may be additional charges for trips and residentials. This will be decided by the unit leader depending on the cost of the trip.

What our Rangers think…
“I joined girlguiding when I was about 6 years old to spend time with my older cousin, when she left, I realised that Brownies had helped me to friends and gain confidence. It gave me something to talk about at school with other kids and teachers and gave me something to look forward to every week so I kept going and never stopped. Girlguiding has been the only thing that I have done for the better part of my life so I couldn’t imagine not going. Some of my best friends I have made through Girlguiding and some of my best memories have been there ;my most notable experiences have been my trip to Disneyland Paris and doing the Duke of Edinburgh awards which wouldn’t have been possible without the support and guidance that we get. Not only have I had these once in a lifetime experiences but Guides and Rangers has also helped me with everyday life, I know that no matter what has happened in in my life I can return to Girlguiding for familiarity and comfort. Girlguiding is stook with me forever, I’m never leaving.”
