The Queen's Platinum Jubilee

Her Majesty The  Queen is Girlguiding’s patron. The Queen has had a long-standing personal history with guiding since joining in 1937 at 11 years old alongside her sister, Princess Margaret. The Queen experienced all the fun of guiding and became our patron in 1952 – the same year she took the throne.

See how Girlguiding Cleveland is celebrating this special occasion.

1st Easington Brownies planted a tree as part of the Queen's Green Canopy. Loftus units took part in a Jubilee Parade.

Other units have made 70 collages in different ways, made royal tealight holders and friendship bracelets and planted sunflowers. Girls have iced Jubilee biscuits and cakes and made Beacon tarts, made cards, memory boxes, bags, bookmarks, bunting and posters. Units have held parties, including joint parties with Beavers and Cubs, and even Jubilee weekends away! One unit learnt how to say 70 in different languages.
