Egton House and Cottage

​

Egton House is a former vicarage which was bought by Girlguiding Cleveland in 1969. It is situated on the edge of Egton village in the beautiful North York Moors with easy rail access to Whitby. The buildings stand in their own sheltered wooded grounds and are suitable for use by Guide and Scout groups, school groups and families. They have oil-fired central heating. There is parking for up to 6 cars.

Egton House sleeps 25 and consists of:

  • 1 bedroom sleeping 10 on platforms

  • 1 bedroom sleeping 8 on platforms

  • 2 Leaders' rooms, sleeping 3 and 4 on divan beds

  • Upstairs bathroom with 3 toilets, 3 showers, 3 hand basins

  • Downstairs toilet with WC and handbasin

  • Dining Room and well equipped kitchen

  • Lounge, activity room, large hall, storage room

Egton Cottage, in the grounds of Egton Guide House                  accommodates up to 12.

  • 1 bedroom sleeping 8 on mattresses

  • 1 bedroom sleeping 3 on divan beds

  • Kitchen/Dining room with fridge-freezer, cooker & micro-wave

  • Lounge, has folding bed for restricted mobility user

  • 2 bathrooms each with WC hand basin and shower

    PLEASE BRING OWN BEDDING.

We regret that dogs are not permitted in the house, cottage or grounds. Smoking is not permitted in the buildings or grounds. The property is not licensed for the use of television receivers.

Marske Guide House

76a High Street, Marske-by-the-Sea, TS11 7BE

Located in the centre of Marske, within easy walking distance of the sea.

There is a small outdoor area and car park. Accommodation consists of:

  • 2 large meeting/activity rooms (suitable for sleeping). Please bring own mattresses.

  • Kitchen with fridge-freezer, cooker & micro-wave

  • Bathroom

  • Separate toilet

Duck Bridge

Danby Campsite 

​

Girlguiding Cleveland owns a permanent camp site in the beautiful countryside of the North Yorkshire Moors village of Danby. Located on Easton Lane, Danby, the site is a 15 minute walk from the National Park Activity and Information Centre at Danby Lodge or 10 minute walk from Danby Station with several trains each day to and from Whitby and Middlesbrough.

​

The camp site is fully equipped and includes:

  • Open sided barn with timber floor for activities and earth floor for fire-lighting or cooking under cover

  • Store with larder fridge

  • 1 standard & 1 accessible WC, 2 showers

  • Camp fire area

  • Tents, ground sheets etc

  • Permanent picnic tables & benches 

  • Wet weather provision in purpose-built shed

NOTE: To minimise any inconvenience to neighbours and potential traffic congestion, always enter Easton Lane from Ainthorpe and travel eastwards, leaving via Duck Bridge. This is particularly important on arrival and departure days.
