Morale boxes for soldiers

Girlguiding Brotton has been collecting items to make up “morale boxes” to send abroad to our serving soldiers who are away at Christmas.

We have been involved with this for a few years now with the help of a local lady who works tirelessly throughout the year to do this.

Tonight we sent 18 boxes to Afghanistan and the Falklands in time for Christmas.

We had a special visit from Sergeant Barry Richardson from the Royal Engineers who was deployed in Afghanistan last Christmas and received one of our morale boxes with a letter from Ameleigh who is one of our Brownies.

Sergeant Richardson told us just what it means to receive letters and gifts from home at Christmas and he wanted to come and say thanks in person.
